The breakfast was lovely, usually cooked each morning by Estrella to suit your preferences. It was a wholesome, relaxing way to start the day. I also appreciated the filtered tap water, so there was no need to buy and carry plastic bottles. The hotel was peaceful, and the bed was extremely comfortable. After busy days out, the pool was great for relaxing in the sun. There’s a good, reasonably priced selection of drinks at the honesty bar, though I’d have liked some snacks or light bites there too. The views from every angle were stunning. Vrenelli and Ruud were attentive and available whenever you had questions, and the library and massage chair were lovely extras. There are other wellbeing services for an extra cost, but I didn’t get a chance to book any. I had a wonderful time at Malaga Hills. It felt like visiting family.

We loved our five nights in Competa. The hotel is quiet and well equipped despite having only a small number of rooms, and the service was exceptional. They helped with walks and restaurant suggestions, and there’s a library, massages, a pool, and a sun terrace. Breakfast was lovely, served with care each morning at 9am. Cómpeta, with its many restaurants, is about a 20-minute walk away. A great choice if you want peace, quiet, and fabulous sunsets. We can’t rate Malaga Hills highly enough.

Mornings were for being active, and afternoons for relaxing, which made this a perfect place to end our vacation. I’d especially recommend the boxing classes with the lovely Kate! The hosts and their attentive team helped us organize everything and made the stay feel special with their warm, personal touch.

The hotel has a minimal environmental footprint, which made the stay even more relaxing to me. It’s exceptionally comfortable and quiet, with stunning views of the mountains, white villages, vineyards, and even the nearby Mediterranean Sea. Vreneli and Ruud are such a warm, exceptional couple that meeting them alone makes the trip to the hills of Cómpeta worthwhile. Their hotel is a little paradise tucked away in the amazing Axarquía region, east of Malaga. We had a lovely weekend at Malaga Hills and in Cómpeta, and we’ll be back soon.

The personal welcome from Estrella, Estela, Vreneli, and Ruud made our stay especially memorable. They were thoughtful and helpful, shared personal tips for walks, places to visit, and local restaurants, and even made reservations for us. Malaga Hills has a relaxed, caring feel that’s different from a typical hotel or B&B. Our spacious, tastefully furnished room was clean and well maintained, with a balcony where we could enjoy the quiet surroundings. The peaceful location among nature comes with lovely views. The service and attention to detail added to the calm. A good choice if you’re after comfort and genuine hospitality in a natural setting.
