There’s a lot of history here, so the property doesn’t have every feature you’d expect from a new hotel. That’s part of what makes this lovely boutique place memorable. The rooms are all different, each with its own historic character, and they’re comfortable and quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. I also liked the shaded patios and ancient aljibe, which feel like a calm little retreat just a short walk from the busy Mezquita. It’s a beautiful, authentic place to switch off and recharge. Highly recommended if you’re after a peaceful, high-end stay. It really is an archaeological gem and a sanctuary for a tired traveler.

The hotel’s a bit of a maze, since it joins several old buildings and courtyards. We joked about leaving crumbs so we could find our way back to the lobby. Still, the location is great, and the staff were very welcoming. The clean rooms have a nice historic feel, breakfast was solid, and the honor bar by the lobby worked perfectly for us. It shines as a 4-star hotel, though I wouldn’t call the hotel itself 5-star. We had a very pleasant stay.

The king bed was a proper king, and the staff were great, really friendly. It’s a well-run hotel with an interesting setting and special history in a historic building, in an amazing location. One thing to know: don’t drive your rental car to the entrance, since cars aren’t allowed there and you could get a ticket. Call the hotel so they can help with your luggage.

We were in room 48, and it was quiet. The rooms were a good size, and the service was excellent. The hotel is right by an entrance to the Jewish quarter, which made for a great location. We also liked the honor system at the piano bar (?) and had a drink there before turning in.

I’ve stayed in a gazillion hotels and worked for a major hotel chain, but I’ve never had someone shout at me during a basic, perfectly ordinary check-in. The front desk interaction was the rudest I’ve ever had. His attitude kept getting more aggressive, and I had to ask him not to speak to me in that tone. I’ve never had to do that at any hotel, especially at check-in. Completely unacceptable and unbelievably unprofessional. It’s a stain on a very pretty, well-situated hotel, which also has the smallest shower door in the world.
