Patios del Orfebre

I’m extremely disappointed by the way this property handled our booking. We reserved a room three months ahead. When we arrived, we were told there was a problem with the door and that we had to move to another hotel in the same chain. It was cheaper and had noticeably worse ratings. The claim that they were giving us a better room simply wasn’t true. You can compare Patios del Orfebre and Hospederia Luis de Gongora yourself. We weren’t given another choice, despite what the property later said about us willingly accepting the arrangement. When we raised the price and rating difference, the response was basically, if we didn’t like it, we should take it up with Booking. Staff made no effort to offer a solution, discount, or sincere apology. The woman at reception was rude and wouldn’t listen or try to resolve things. Other guests were checking out at that moment, so there appeared to be rooms available. We hadn’t arrived late either, and had booked well in advance with an early check-in, so it seemed they could have accommodated us if they wanted to. I contacted Booking but never got a proper reply. Six hours after checkout, the property sent an explanation saying the issue was “plumbing problems,” which contradicted what we’d been told in person about the door. That inconsistency makes me strongly doubt there was a real room issue. It felt more like overbooking, or possibly discrimination because we come from a developing country. I also found another Google review from five months earlier describing the same “imaginary plumbing problems” and the same supposed solution of sending guests to a lower-rated property, which makes me even more doubtful this was a genuine issue. I’d sincerely advise anyone considering this hotel to think twice. You could be moved somewhere worse without compensation, treated badly, and have your trip completely ruined. Earlier this year I stayed in another country where previous guests had actually broken my hotel room door. The staff there handled it respectfully and with care, and took action to help.

I had a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and really helpful. The accommodation was clean and tidy, with modern facilities.

The staff helped make everything run smoothly during my stay at Patios del Orfebe. The rooms were comfortable and very clean, and the hotel offers excellent value for money. It’s only a short walk from the main tourist sights.

Being right in the middle of the tourist area made getting around easy, and the room stayed quiet with efficient air conditioning. Service was good too. The double bed felt a little small for two, though, and there weren’t many outlets for a room meant for two people.
