Hotel Spa Convento I

Dinner was amazing, and the staff were friendly. The hotel has a huge parking area and an authentic medieval look, but the rooms are very old and could use an upgrade. They also tried to charge us to use the indoor pool, which I hadn't encountered at another hotel. Breakfast was very average, and the bar needs some work: they couldn't sell us a bottle of wine.

Lovely spot for a weekend, especially if you want to sit by the garden and have a few drinks. I haven't tried the services yet, so I'll update this once I do.

The room was unbearably hot, and a dripping sound kept waking us up. We were only using the hotel as a stopover before a flight from Madrid while staying in northern Spain, and choosing it was a big mistake. After getting up several times during the night, thinking the noise might be a heater, I gave up around 5 a.m. At 6, I found water coming through the ceiling and a pool of it in the corridor. When I told reception during our rushed early checkout, the woman didn't apologize. Instead, she blamed me for not calling in the middle of the night so they could move us. But I was trying to sleep through an unidentified ticking sound from about 3 a.m. Would getting dressed, packing, and changing rooms in the middle of the night really have fixed anything? The a la carte breakfast, served because of Covid, was also completely burned and inedible. I mentioned that too, and was told I should have complained at another time. I was complaining right then. Not one apology. Incidents can happen anywhere, but how a hotel handles a complaint matters. Never again.

The spa was great, and the staff were really friendly. It's disappointing that access isn't included in the booking, though, so I had to pay an extra entry fee.
