Masia Katmandu

This place has a lovely character, from its mix of austerity and exoticism, though there aren't many frills. Gina and her family are kind and helpful. She serves a generous breakfast and can also prepare dishes for 5 € each if you let her know in advance. We stayed in a cozy two-story room with a library and meditation area upstairs, lovely windows and views on both levels, plenty of daylight, and a good-sized private terrace. Downstairs were the bed, a separate bathroom, and a functional old-style en-suite bathtub. The down comforter was terrific. We worried about the temperature, but the insulation was excellent, both thermal and acoustic, and the floor heating kept our sizable room warm and comfortable. The old masia has been completely renovated and sits in beautiful surroundings, away from roads and the grid, which makes it remarkably quiet. You do have to drive a two-km track from the main road. It looks daring at the turn, but any average car can manage it. Ours is quite low and not really suited to rough roads, yet we had no trouble. It's off-grid, powered by solar panels, so the power budget is limited, but there was enough lighting and service.

We found a real refuge here, tucked into the forest at the foothills of the Ports natural park. It's a beautiful house, and the hosts are charming. A lovely spot to relax and unwind. Thank you, Gina xxxx

The scenery is breathtaking, and the hosts made us feel so welcome. Our room was immaculately clean and well maintained, and breakfast was amazing and very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back, and next time I stay in the area, I won't look anywhere else.

Gina is a fantastic host, and Masia Katmandu feels both homely and beautiful. It's peaceful and remote, but still only a short drive from several great towns. The facilities are excellent too. We were sad to leave and are already excited to return as soon as we can. Can't recommend a stay here enough!
