SCAM We messaged ahead to say we’d arrive late but never got a reply. When we arrived, we were charged an extra €105 per room for our three rooms, a fee that wasn’t clearly shown in the booking details. Communication was very poor, the service felt unprofessional, and the rooms weren’t clean or well maintained. The value for money is very low, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We’re filing a formal complaint about what happened. Check other reviews before booking.

We let the accommodation know by message that we’d be arriving late, but nobody replied. Then we found out about an extra charge on arrival that we hadn’t been told about, which was extremely frustrating. The staff were unfriendly, communication was almost nonexistent, and the rooms were dirty and poorly maintained. I don’t think the place offers the quality it should, and I wouldn’t recommend it. We’ve decided to file a complaint to document the incident.

The extra €90 for handing me a key at 8:30 pm was the worst part of my stay at Hostal Calderón in Cuenca. I’d told them in advance when I’d arrive, but nobody mentioned this charge beforehand. Check-in was practically nonexistent. The building is old and visibly neglected as soon as you enter, and the rooms look outdated and poorly kept. They were freezing even with the heating supposedly on. Expensive and uncomfortable, with questionable practices. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it.

We were an hour later than expected and got charged 45 euros on top of the agreed price. When we arrived, nobody was there; we knocked, and a man came out to let us in. He left his old car on the sidewalk with its hazard lights on and handed us some keys. Inside, the hallway was very dark, with the elevator at the far end. It felt frightening, and we kept hearing shouting and doors slamming without seeing anyone. The room was filthy and dusty, there were holes in the shower towel, and a used condom was stuck to the heating pipe. We were so scared we put a chair behind the door. Speechless. We wouldn’t go back even if we were paid.
