Hostal GC Ciudad Encantada

We stopped at the bar for coffee, not the rooms. It's close to the entrance of the beautiful 'Ciudad Encantada' natural park, so it can get crowded. The staff were kind, the facilities were fine, and prices seemed reasonable for a place like this. Handy for a drink before the visit or a break or lunch after the walk.

I owe them an apology for the earlier 1-star rating. I didn't know enough Spanish and misunderstood things. When our motorhome battery went flat, the male receptionist and two male bar staff were incredibly kind. They helped translate, called a local garage, tried to assist with jump leads, and helped a Spanish mechanic who noticed we were stuck. We'd also been served by them in the bar that evening. They were all so helpful. Please accept my apologies for the previous rating. 5 stars.

Jose and his little animal friends made the stay especially nice, with beautiful nature all around and great service. It's a lovely base for Cuenca's mountains. We had a bath in the rivers, enjoyed the animals and hiking routes, and spent a few days relaxing. I'd definitely come back.

The nearby Ciudsd Encantada is the real draw, with an amazing stretch of rock shapes and gullies. Parking is easy and close, though there is a small entrance fee. The food here was nice too. Nothing else compares to the site, go see it!
