I had an okay night here while walking the Camino del Norté. I'd read lots of negative reviews, so I arrived with low expectations. The lady of the house was lovely. She couldn't speak English and my Spanish was broken, but we managed to communicate. My room was clean and quiet, and I was the only guest that evening. She kindly made dinner when I wanted it, at 6 pm, which is unheard of in Spain, and gave me a lovely home-cooked breakfast in the morning. The wifi was patchy, but usable. Be ready for a difficult 2 km trek from Deba. If you don't have a car and are too tired to walk back, you'll be stuck there once you arrive.

Rosa was a lovely host. My wife and I arrived around 4 pm, and she made us a nice meal and asked when we wanted to leave in the morning. The room and bed were clean, and the shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water, just what we needed to recover. I'd rate the service a 5, with lower marks for the room and location. The farmhouse is quite worn and has seen better days. It's right beside the Camino trail, about 2 km before Deba. We'd read mixed reviews and ended up having a very positive stay, but if you're doing el Camino, think about the next day's hike. Santiago Ways booked us here. The route to Markina is tough, with lots of elevation and no services along the way, so you'll need to carry all your water and plenty of food. Staying in Deba would be better, so you don't start that steep 2 km downhill before the hike to Markina.

Rosa is very friendly and helpful. The house is lovely and rural, with beautiful views out the window. Since there aren't many food options nearby, her home-cooked three-course dinner was very welcome. Breakfast was delicious too, omelette and homemade preserves, all made with things from her garden.

Doña Rosa was so kind. I was completely exhausted and couldn't take another step when I spotted the sign on the road, and she welcomed us in and made us a lovely dinner. Our private room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, with loads of hot water. There was nothing available online for the next night, with every hostel and hotel near El Camino del Norte full, so Doña Rosa found us a similar farmhouse to stay in. She is an angel of mercy!
