New Bilbao Airport Hotel

We ended up needing a hotel room on 11/4/2026 because Velotia Airlines cancelled our flight from Gran Canaria to Oviedo and sent us to Bilbao instead. We chose this hotel because it's near the airport, and our plane landed around 11:10 p.m. We called to arrange the shuttle and were told it left at exactly 11:30. Passengers took about fifteen minutes to get off the plane, so we had to run from the ground floor to level three. At 11:25 p.m. we called and asked the hotel to tell the driver to wait just five minutes while we tried to reach the pickup area. The receptionist said, "We can't wait a minute longer than the allotted time! Take a taxi!" We got there at 11:33, but the shuttle had already gone and there were no taxis. We didn't know how to walk along the highway without getting a police fine, so we asked the few people by the airport gates waiting for relatives to help us. After about an hour, a kind woman from San Sebastian agreed to help. She used GPS to find the hotel, and after several attempts we made it there. It's unusual for management to care only about following the manager's orders and not the guests' comfort or well-being. They'd rather waste fuel going back and forth without helping guests, when waiting five minutes wouldn't have cost anything.

The staff were nice and helpful, though management must be a piece of work. I was stuck here on a Vueling layover after a cancellation. The "complimentary" dinner was an insult to food, the worst I could find in a month in Spain, with nothing else coming close. They were also unreasonably stingy with the "complimentary" shuttle. Even though they knew there was no public transport, they refused to take me from the airport to the hotel to pick up my bags. That left a 1.5 KM walk along the highway or paying 15+ euros. There was no shampoo or soap in the bathroom either. It's a "free" stay that seems to offer the bare minimum needed to keep its airline relationship, with no real care about being a good host. If you have free will, just stay in town.

They offer a free airport transfer, and breakfast starts at 4.45, which is great for an early flight. Good location.

The airport shuttle was on time, and the rooms are comfortable. Breakfast was decent and inexpensive at €8. The hotel is very close to the airport, and I'd definitely stay again.
