Makkan Club - Campsite

We stayed two nights and felt very well looked after by Oscar, the Manager, and his attentive, professional staff. We arrived on Sunday afternoon, when there’s regular live entertainment for locals. There were probably 250 Spanish people there, plus my husband and me as the only Brits. What a fantastic atmosphere! Makkah Club is easy to find, with plenty of free parking near the rooms. The gardens are beautifully kept and have a few little surprises, and there’s a large marquee for functions. It’s a gem in lovely countryside, just 2k from Porto de Santa Cruz, which is worth a couple of hours’ visit. Dogs are welcome almost everywhere apart from the immediate pool area with the sun loungers. The pool was clean, with plenty of loungers, tables, and chairs, though no pool towels. Our modern, clean room had windows facing the pool and opened onto a small patio with chairs and tables, which suited us better with our little dog. The room stayed cool and quiet enough to leave the window open. The bed and pillows were comfy, the linen was excellent quality, the toiletries were great, and there was a lovely scented reed diffuser. There’s no kettle or mini-fridge, but the bar and restaurant are open all day, serving good food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Would recommend and definitely visit again.
