The house is very spacious, and the heating and hot water worked quite well. We appreciated being able to spend a few days there as a family, and the people we met were friendly. The location is great too, in a quiet area close to the town and shops. Booking was easy, communication was good, and they were excellent about welcoming us and being flexible with check-in and check-out. But the house felt neglected and could be improved with little effort. The beds were uncomfortable: worn, noisy plank frames and sagging mattresses. There are two living rooms, but not many chairs in either, so we kept carrying them back and forth. The lighting was very poor in every room. Only two bulbs worked in the living rooms, and in the kitchen the two hanging bulbs were hidden behind wall sconces, making it hard to cook. The low range hood, which had no extractor fan, was easy to bump your head on. We had to wash the dirty dishes and pots and pans before using them. There were only two dishwasher tablets for a large house and a four-day stay. The bathrooms had just two toilet rolls and no basic wastebaskets. There were few glasses and utensils, only two kitchen towels, and no cutting boards. The bathtub had no shower curtain, so it was hard to use without splashing water everywhere, and the shower hoses were broken. We had to buy one for the downstairs shower.
