Hotel Riutort

The biggest problem was the groups of German tourists. They were noisy day and night, shouting, laughing and singing in the hallways, stomping and dragging flip-flops around, and behaving rudely by the pool. Loud hard bass music played nonstop, so it was impossible to have a normal conversation within our own group. There was no way to sleep or relax, and hotel staff did nothing about it all week. The room itself was in poor condition and not clean enough. The walls were dirty, with chipped plaster and visible stains. Floor tiles were cracked, and the bedding and towels still had unpleasant marks after daily housekeeping, red on the sheets and yellow on the towels. We arrived to find it like this, as a couple of our photos show. The beds were two separate singles with noisy frames, hard mattresses and stiff pillows. They slid apart as soon as you got near the middle, which was especially uncomfortable as a couple. The air conditioning only worked if we shut the balcony door with force, and the door on the balcony side of the room wouldn’t open at all. There was no clear daily cleaning schedule either. Several times staff arrived just as we were getting ready to head to the beach, so we had to either let them in right then or have no cleaned room that day. Reception and bar staff were friendly, breakfast was decent, and the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the beach. Those were the only positives. For 7 nights, the stay was far below expectations. If you want rest, comfort and decent accommodation standards, I strongly advise against Hotel Riutort.

The hotel’s atmosphere made the stay a complete nightmare. Arenal has clearly become a full-on party zone, and most guests seemed to be loud, drunk and disrespectful teenagers. Every night, the noise went on until 6 a.m., with shouting, screaming, banging on doors and partying in the hallways. Sleep was impossible. Staff saw what was happening but did nothing to stop it, and management seemed to have no control. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone looking for rest or a peaceful holiday. There were ants in the room, which was very unpleasant. Breakfast and dinner were okay, although it seemed like dinner leftovers were often served again at breakfast. The location was decent, and restaurant staff were generally friendly and helpful. Reception staff, on the other hand, weren’t welcoming or professional, which made a bad first impression.

Good location, and breakfast and dinner had lots of good choices. The room needs updating, as the bed wasn’t very comfortable and the pillows were too hard. Overall it was okay and good value for the money. I’d recommend it.

The internet is completely useless, and the noise and shouting from other guests can get really annoying. The food is good, hygiene is fine, and the rooms are decent, though nothing special. It’s okay overall.
