We loved how comfortable and spotless the house was, and the beds were great. The appliances all worked perfectly, and the woman looking after the place was attentive and ready to help whenever we needed something. It’s also a lovely base for unwinding and exploring a really beautiful area. The wasps were a serious problem, though. They nest in gaps in the old porch beams and around the front door, and during the heatwave they got worked up by the water noise in the yard and the lights. We couldn’t enjoy being outside, day or night, and three of our group of seven were stung going in or out. The owner should consider having a specialist deal with them, removing the nests or using traps or another available option. Guests with allergies or intolerances could face serious health problems. Even in the heatwave, we didn’t need a fan indoors.

At this time of year, a fireplace really is essential. We had to bring our own firewood, otherwise we’d have stayed cold, and having to go out and find some was a hassle I hope future guests take into account. The living room is too large for a single radiator to warm it properly. You knew when we booked that we planned to eat at the house, and someone was there well ahead of time as promised. Still, it was just as cold at 1 p.m. as it was at 4.

The patio and porch are really nice, and the place was very clean. My one suggestion is to move the barbecue to the front yard, since the back yard has nothing else in it.

It’s in a very quiet village near Sepúlveda, making it a great spot for visiting the Duratón River gorges. The house has all the amenities, comfortable beds, and a full bathroom.

The patio is huge, and the house is spacious, well equipped, and has good heating. It’s a fantastic place for a getaway, and we’ll definitely come back!
