Kaktus Albir

After an apartment booking let us down badly, we stopped by the Kaktus Hotel to ask about vacancies. The man at reception was so friendly and found us a fabulous, spacious room with a fantastic sea view. The furnishings were older, as others have mentioned, but everything was spotless. We actually liked the traditional style, it was a nice change from the usual clinical hotel look. Breakfast was superb, with everything you could think of and Cava if you wanted it. All the staff, cleaners included, were helpful and friendly. Hopefully we'll be back soon.

There was live music every night, which was fun, and despite the dated feel it's a solid hotel. The best thing is the location, right by the boardwalk for walks and swimming. My complaints were the spotty TV and Wi-Fi that barely worked for most of our stay. The towel warmer in the bathroom also never switched off, leaving the room too hot. Lots of older guests spend the winter here, so it may not suit you if you want a younger crowd.

The rooms need updating, especially the mattresses, which are badly in need of replacement. The food was good to very good, and our group of 15 cyclists really appreciated the service and excellent staff. Everyone agreed the stay was a success, thanks to the facilities and especially how friendly and helpful the staff were. We'll definitely be back.

We chose this hotel because it often hosts older guests, so we thought it would be a quiet place to rest with our baby. Instead, a wedding in the celebration room carried on all Saturday night, and our little one couldn't sleep. The rooms have no sound insulation at all. The hotel looks good at first, but it seems not to have been renovated since at least the 90s, and it's not well maintained.
