Hotel Las Anclas

My guest stayed for almost a week, and we were very pleased with the hospitality and top-notch service. The staff were kind, polite and friendly. The hotel is elegant, and the rooms have marvelous views of Astillero. There was a wide range of fruit and other food at the breakfast buffet. I highly recommend it.

It has style and is very comfortable, even though the hotel isn't flashy. The location is great, and the staff are excellent. Always a pleasure to stay here.

Great value for a basic twin room at €45. The hotel is fairly close to the airport, and our taxi there cost around €10-15, though it might be cheaper at another time of day. A friendly man met us at the door, checked us in and suggested places to eat after we'd left our bags in the room. Our room was very spacious but simple, with two beds, a desk and lamp, and bedside tables. It had an en-suite shower, toilet and sink. Everything was clean and quiet, with a great view of astillero, a church and the docks. Breakfast was included, which we hadn't expected to pay extra for, and there were plenty of buffet and continental options. We checked out until 12-12:30, paid, then walked five minutes to Astillero train station for the train to Santander Central.

The room was tiny and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed. There was no Wi-Fi in the room, and the bathroom had mould. You could smell the fragrances they used while “cleaning.” Unbelievably, only one person could speak English. We live in the EU in the 21st century, but the standard felt like deep Russia in the mid-20th century. I definitely won't come back.
