Hotel AR Golf Almerimar

The rooms are modern and generous, and the hotel is really nice. The golf shop ladies deserve a huge thank you for their absolute five star service. I’d fully recommend playing golf here. Our holiday isn’t over yet, but I’m sure the great service will keep going. Thanks, Jools.

The food was very good, and the location was okay, but we felt tourists from other countries were treated as if they were merely tolerated. I was recovering from an operation and struggling with my cases and crutches, yet none of the staff helped us when we arrived. Spanish guests, though, were welcomed at the door and had their bags carried to their rooms. There was a similar double standard in the restaurant. Non-Spanish guests were sent away for wearing swimwear, as they should be, but Spanish guests could come in soaking wet and barefoot and sit down to eat. Spanish guests also seemed to get priority in the other à la carte restaurants, while people from other countries had to insist and show their booking to get access. The staff barely speak English and made little effort to understand us. They showed how annoyed they were that we didn’t speak Spanish. It was clear to us that Spanish guests got nicer and more decent treatment. There’s a lot about this on the TUI website, which is a shame it isn’t included in the criteria here. The three stars are for the good food and one waiter who made an effort, spoke English, and knew he wouldn’t get cold-shouldered for speaking it.

We live fairly nearby and spent one night here for our anniversary. Our room was ready even though we arrived early. We went to the marina for lunch, then spent a few hours at the beautifully maintained pool. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and although we came in just 20 minutes before service ended, nobody rushed us. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and breakfast was an excellent buffet. The location is great for town. Still, it doesn’t feel five star when there’s no in-room tea or coffee setup, and the hotel wouldn’t provide one when we asked. There were no slippers, robes, or complimentary water either. The nightly entertainment outside was VERY loud and went on until late, so anyone staying for work had no chance of getting to sleep early.
