Hotel Vincci Valdecañas Golf

Getting back in the car and leaving was the best part. My 4 year old daughter even asked, “Papa, why are we here? Can we please go?” The island felt like a failed project, with rough, partly built condos left in ruins. I’d read that the hotel might not even be legal, and I don’t understand how it’s still open. The breakfast was terrible, like something from a cheap motel. They advertise a kids club and activities, but the receptionist said they didn’t have those. She then mentioned a kids parks, but said it wasn’t on the island. The place felt like a horror movie set. Stephen King would’ve liked it for a film.

The restaurant really let the stay down. Their “romantic menu” meant a little plastic bouquet and a tea candle that went out after 15 minutes. The waiters didn’t offer more bread or drinks, and stopped explaining the dishes after the second one. Portions were small, the salad sat in a pool of olive oil, and the veil was badly undercooked. The hotel itself was fantastic, though. It was quiet and relaxing, the bed was super comfy, and the staff were incredible.

The setting is lovely, natural, and quiet, and the rooms are large with an excellent mattress. But the service and facilities don’t feel like a 4 star hotel anymore. I waited 40 minutes to check in while tired and alone. When I asked if I could at least get into a room, the manager said the registration system couldn’t issue an access key. A fiasco. Inside, the room design felt boring and cheaply done. There was no carpet, the toiletries were like what you’d get at a roadside hotel, and the shower and drainage had unpleasant problems. No free drinking water, kettle, or accessories either. The mini bar prices seemed from another reality, and sound insulation was average. Worth visiting if the room costs no more than 90 euros, otherwise I wouldn’t.

The place was really well looked after and organized, but breakfast left a bad taste. We arrived 30 minutes before it ended, and there was just one small pastry for the three of us. We waited for more chocolate buns to come out, but none did. When we asked, the server rudely said, “no more,” then a minute later carried out a full tray “for vips.”
