The room was spacious and clean, with a wonderful sea view. The hotel itself is friendly, and I never had trouble finding a staff member when I had a question. Kentia Club has a great bar and menu, and breakfast is extensive, with a cooked meal available if you want one. The pool area gets busy, and there's bar and food service until 6. The pool feels more suited to cooling off than swimming. It's about a 10-minute walk to town, where there are bars, restaurants and shops. You don't hear the bars from the hotel, though the walk back up the hill from the harbour is a bit of a climb. The range of restaurants in town makes it worth it. Definitely recommend this adults only place.

I picked this hotel for a short break and my birthday, and it was such a good choice. From reception to the bar and housekeeping, everyone was lovely. The check-in team were really helpful and answered all our questions, and the pool bar staff were kind and always smiling. As a hotel management student last year, I'd give this hotel 10 out of 10. A hotel isn't just a building, it's the service, smiles and kindness. I hope this wasn't my first and last visit.

The gardens are stunning, full of cacti and native plants, and the black volcanic stone architecture with mirrored terraces gives this hotel a look unlike anywhere else in Puerto del Carmen. This was our second visit, after first coming 9 years ago, shortly after it opened. We were welcomed warmly and professionally at reception. We paid extra for a pool view suite, but ours hasn't yet been refurbished. It was clean and still stylish, though the furniture and equipment showed wear and signs of poor maintenance. A couple of things fell below what I'd expect for the price and star rating. The hotel is refreshing its rooms now. We slept well in the huge, comfortable bed, and the public areas were very well kept. The breakfasts were delicious, and the modern pool area was clean, with great views of the port, sea and mountains. The pool bar made good smoothies and delicious sandwiches, but I felt they may have been short staffed once or twice. Perhaps one more senior team member to set the service tone would improve things. The small pool and sunbathing area are beautiful and very comfortable, but sometimes didn't feel large enough for everyone. We had the tasting menu at Kentia Gourmet Club one evening, and the food was sensational. Service was excellent, and we enjoyed traditional Canarian dancing and music while we ate. The hotel sits above the old town, handy for local style restaurants, the port, pretty Playa Chica and the clifftop path to Puerto Calero. The stay was still very good. I'd highly recommend it and would return once the room refurbishment is done.

Dinner was a highlight. The menu changes, so each evening felt like something new. Italian night was phenomenal, with authentic flavours and dishes that brought Italy to the islands. Asian night had a sumptuous spread, and the fresh sushi was varied, vibrant, expertly made and very satisfying. The hotel is in a peaceful spot with stunning Atlantic views, yet the harbour is an easy stroll away. Service felt both highly professional and genuinely warm, and every interaction made the stay feel effortless.
