Sur Restinga

Davinia really made the stay better. She was cheerful, friendly and professional, always ready to help, and gave us great tips for eating and places to see around El Hierro. The Hotel Sur is in a great spot, with lovely views of the pier and several places nearby to get a drink. Our room was spotless and well equipped, with air conditioning and a TV. We had a fantastic stay and highly recommend it.

The location is fantastic, and with some care this could be one of the best hotels on El Hierro. As it is, the hotel doesn't look much like the website photos. Davinia was pleasant and attentive, but the shared areas were dirty, including a kitchen right among the rooms. They should cover it with a vinyl screen to hide the grime. The potatoes looked like they might have been there since the pandemic.

It's very well placed for walking to the beach, going out for a meal or drinks, with several restaurants and a Superdino supermarket close by. The apartment was clean, quiet, and the landlady was friendly and attentive. Getting around to see other parts of the island is less convenient, though, since it's almost an hour's walk to reach them.

The location deserves a 10/10, but the condition of the place was a real shame. The rooms were dirty, with stains on the walls, floor and sink, and even the dish towel was soiled. I attached photos. There was damp on the walls, hair in the bathroom, and shower water escaped past the screen. The beds sagged as soon as you lay down and creaked whenever you moved. The heat was unbearable, and cockroaches wandered freely around the hotel. Cleaning was practically nonexistent. They came in every few days to change the towels, and that was about it. I won't ever stay here again and can't recommend it.
