Ca la Paula

The owner is very friendly, and the pool is one of the parts of the large house that's in good condition. But much of the place is old or broken and needs a lot of work. The plumbing and electrical wiring need extensive renovation. It might make more sense to close one floor and properly fix up the rest before renting it out.

There are a few downsides to this otherwise peaceful, historic modernist house. The upper floor gets hot at night, with no air conditioning, though fans are provided, and there aren't many electrical outlets. The house has spacious, clean bedrooms with quality linens, five bathrooms, three of them with showers, and a big kitchen with a pantry, fridge, and freezer. Outside, there's a large garden with a barbecue area and a pool, lots of shade, and plenty of usable space. It has a wide range of plants and trees, including a catalpa and a huge pepper tree. There's a basement that works perfectly as a playroom. Families with children and pets should find it well suited, and the surrounding area is great for walks and hikes among vineyards and wineries. Anna Maria is a charming host who is always happy to help make the stay more enjoyable.

I finally got around to writing this after staying over the Mercè long weekend. I couldn't seem to post a review at first, but when my sister-in-law asked me about a rural house, I remembered this one and recommended it. Ana Maria is fantastic, so kind, helpful, and always ready to assist. The house is brilliant, with spacious rooms, a huge dining room downstairs, and an amazing garden. We had a superb stay, very, very good!

We felt very happy and comfortable in this beautiful, very large house, and the pool was so inviting. Ana Maria was attentive and kind, and the service was excellent. I'd highly recommend staying here. Thank you so much, Ana Maria. Joaquín.
