After more than six hours on the road, we found out the room they gave us was already occupied. Thankfully, nobody was in the shower or otherwise caught in an awkward situation, but this was completely unacceptable. We booked in a hurry after our first accommodation was canceled as we arrived in Valencia. Despite the reviews making us cautious, €220 for three nights seemed reasonable. Getting to that point was already frustrating. We waited over ten minutes at reception for someone handling check-ins. He couldn't find our reservation until we showed him the confirmation email, then searched cupboards for several minutes for a key. When he couldn't find it, he handed us some keys and a piece of cardboard to switch on the electricity. We went straight back downstairs, annoyed by the delay and unprofessional service. Their slowness had also cost us a restaurant reservation in Valencia. The staff said they “didn’t understand,” checked the computer several times, and eventually found that the room was occupied and there were no rooms left. They even said they couldn't understand how we'd booked online. Someone began calling around for another room, but after all that we refused and asked for an immediate refund. We were assured we'd get it. This was Thursday. It's Sunday now, and there's still no refund. Taking payment for a booking they can't honor is unacceptable, and failing to refund it promptly is worse. Avoid this hotel.
