The room was roomy, comfortable, and clean, with heating, air conditioning, a TV, and a fridge, plus a complimentary bottle of mineral water. There’s free outdoor parking with electric car chargers, the hotel is accessible for disabled guests, and pets aren’t allowed. I liked the peaceful feel of this stylish palace-house, with a green garden beside the cafeteria and a cozy, inviting restaurant. It’s a good spot for mountain biking on the local paths or going for a hike. Vitoria, the capital of Álava Region, is a 20-minute drive away and is well worth a visit for its history. The Parador restaurant serves the best regional food, prepared by an excellent chef, and a good local wine goes perfectly with it.

The Parador still has that magical atmosphere. The staff were fantastic, and the Basque food was delicious. It’s in a beautiful part of the Pais Vasco, with a really relaxing feel. We held our wedding reception here 15 years ago. Some of those memories have faded a little, but the place has stayed with me.

The manager and staff were excellent, and I really liked this parador. The setting is lovely and the hotel has a very relaxing feel.

The building, accommodation, and location are beautiful, but we didn’t feel welcome. I don’t know of anything our group did to upset the staff, yet everything seemed like too much trouble. Some staff were excellent, as usual, but there was a surly chap at reception in the evening, and restaurant service was very slow and had a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. If they don’t want us back, they’ve managed it.
