The owner wouldn’t let us into the property after we’d paid, saying renovations were underway. A local man said we weren’t the first people this had happened to. We tried to reach her several times before she finally let us in. The house had electrical problems, and we were freezing because the breakers kept tripping, so the electric radiators wouldn’t work.

We arrived to find the owner refusing to let us stay, supposedly because of renovations that weren’t actually taking place. There was no breakfast, the place was freezing, and the breakers kept tripping whenever we switched on the radiators.

Cristina was incredibly kind and shared lots of tips and information about the village. The house is a peaceful place to unwind, and it has been restored, though there are a few small details to sort out. It’s very well situated for exploring the area, including the village where the “Marqués de Riscal” winery is located, and discovering wine.

Right on Elciego’s main street, this is a lovely house in a really good spot. It’s well cared for, with attention given to the little details. A great base for enjoying Rioja Alavesa.
