That shaded terrace and those mountain views were just what we needed after cycling uphill in the summer heat. We’d ridden the Senda del Oso from Proaza, and stopping at Bar Peña Sobia felt like a real treat. The lunch was tasty, with cold drinks and friendly, welcoming staff. It has a laid-back local feel, and we stayed a while to relax and recover. A lovely stop if you’re riding the trail or exploring nearby.

We ordered the hamburgers, and they were really tasty with fries. It’s a simple menu with tapas too, and prices are reasonable. The place has a small bar, stone and wood decor, plus an outdoor dining area and terrace. There are a few shop items for sale as well. It’s in a popular spot for nature walks, and the service was especially friendly and good.

The homemade desserts were delicious. We tried the three-chocolate cake and lemon cake, and both were great. The restaurant is at the entrance to town and has generous portions at very reasonable prices. We had Asturian stew (pote asturiano), wild boar stew, and beef from the 9-euro set menu, and ate very well. The wild boar was incredibly tender. There’s also a 15-euro menu with ribeye and Rioja, or cachopo and Rioja. They serve hamburgers and tapas too, and have accommodation available. Excellent service.
