The rate was much lower than I’d expect for a place of this calibre. It’s a beautiful six-bedroom boutique property, with remarkable attention to detail and classic Spanish woodwork and furniture that look almost impossible to replace. There are cherubs everywhere, too. Alfredo was an outstanding host, and nothing we asked for seemed like a bother. Continental breakfast is available, and there’s a pool and gym on site, all set in the Cantabrian hills.

I’m already thinking about coming back, this time for a few nights. The photos and reviews don’t capture just how beautiful and luxurious this hotel is, and Alfredo really goes out of his way to make your stay special. Five stars from me, though it hardly feels like enough. Thanks, Alfredo, for letting me stay.

We only stayed one night, but really enjoyed the pool, the lovely surroundings, the hospitality, and the beautiful place. Definitely recommend it.

We liked the area so much that we asked to stay another night before we’d even had the big breakfast buffet. Palacio de Trasvilla is well worth recommending. The property itself is gorgeous, with beautiful furnishings, lovely countryside, and even an old ruin. Nearby Puente Viesgo has caves with paintings dated to more than 41,000 years ago, and they’re open to the public. There are also plenty of beautiful “Percuso pitoresco” roads around there.

Alfredo was an amazing host, and the place is truly beautiful. The bedroom and bathroom were superb, right down to the monogrammed bed linen and towels. The tapas and breakfast were fantastic. Thank you, Alfredo.
