Casa Rural Areano

Mikel made us feel at home the whole time and was always ready to help. I came for work, but I’m sure I’ll return for a holiday. There are several hikes you can start right from the house, and the views across the valley from higher up are worth the climb. The daily breakfast was great, with coffee, orange juice, homemade bread and jam, tomato spread, cheese, ham and salami. Most days there was also a healthier cake or muffins made by Mikel. My room was very clean and just the right size. There’s a cozy shared living room upstairs, plus a little balcony where you can sit and take in the views.

The other guests were incredibly friendly, and I’d love to come back if I get the chance. It’s really tucked away, but there’s everything you need. The rooms are simple, comfortable and spotless, and the terrace or second-floor balcony is a lovely place to start the day surrounded by green. Mikel has put so much effort into keeping the place welcoming, clean and cozy. We joked that he must have 36 hours in a day to get it all done. Thank you so much for your hospitality. It’s a 10/10 for me. Part of me wants to keep this secluded place a secret, while also wishing it every success. Eskerrik asko!

A magical Casa Rural up on the mountainside, and Mikel was a wonderful host. I’d highly recommend staying here and hope I can return one day.
