Hacienda del Mar member of Meliá Collection

We had a lovely 10-day stay during the last week of April with our 10-month-old daughter, and would absolutely recommend this older hotel that’s still being upgraded day by day. The first two nights were a bit difficult. Our first room didn’t have the terrace we’d requested, and the air conditioning in the next room wasn’t working properly, so it got quite hot at night even though it wasn’t hot outside. Abel and Olaf handled the problems well and moved us to an amazing room for the remaining eight days. Thanks to both of them. Abel also arranged cake and sparkling wine for my wife’s 32nd birthday, which we really appreciated. Housekeeping were impressively thorough and came frequently, making a stay with a baby much easier. One thing I wish we’d known ahead of time: half board doesn’t have a buffet, but a menu with two choices for each course. Even so, it was a very good experience. We’d come back. 4.5/5 stars.

The staff and service team were marvellous, happy working together and clearly going the extra mile. Ramon and his colleagues made our evenings at El Burladero special, and we particularly enjoyed the steak. Room service was attentive too: the room was spotless and serviced morning and night, and the little chocolates were delicious, a lovely nod to old-fashioned hospitality. We stayed at Hacienda Del Mar for a week starting 29th April 2026. The hotel is beautifully appointed, with carefully curated interiors and immaculate grounds full of lush lawns and tropical plants. The bedrooms were comfortable and well equipped, and the detail in the furnishings and lobby art felt considered. There are three sparkling, clean pools, and it was lovely relaxing on a sunbed while staff brought towels and cushions or put up a parasol when needed. Check-in was relaxed and personal. Instead of standing at a high desk, we sat comfortably with a glass of cava. Our luggage was whisked away, and we could take our time finishing our drink on the terrace. Half board suited us very well. There were three restaurants, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast room was stunning, with indoor and outdoor seating; outside, we looked across the grounds toward the sea and even saw a dolphin jump in the distance one day. Lunch at Neguri had a chic beach-club feel, with fresh fish, meat, and salads. We had sea bass cooked perfectly over coals and served at the table. Dinner at El Burladero had gorgeous surroundings and great food and drinks.

The food was remarkable, and the property itself is wonderful, with some truly exceptional staff. Estepona is worth visiting, and there’s a great beach complex about a 10-minute walk away with lots of restaurant options. The hotel recommended Mar de Sazzon, and it was great. We were very happy with our choice.

The stay was superb, and it’s a brilliant venue.
