I showed up at Hostal Sanmar at night with a confirmed booking, but the building was shut and there was nobody to let me in. I called and messaged several times, even sent photos from the door, and got no response. After waiting outside in the cold with nowhere to go, I had to cancel and find somewhere else to sleep. For a place that confirms bookings and guarantees check-in, this was completely unacceptable. I’ve never had a worse accommodation experience. Anyone who needs basic reliability, communication, or professionalism should avoid it.

You get what you pay for here. It’s cheap, but the beds were really worn, and the glass bathroom walls with no door leave you with no privacy in the room.

The room felt cramped, with hardly any space to get around to the far side of the bed, and there was a slight sewer smell until we left the window open for a while. The bathroom has transparent glass walls, a mostly see-through mural, and no door. My friends and I ended up here overnight in Figuere after our train was cancelled. It was somewhat close to the high speed rail station and cheap, but €182 for three people sharing one room for one night seemed crazy to us, especially when we’ve stayed in nicer places for under €100.

The staff were nice and helpful. Rooms are plain and clean, with a bed, toilet and shower, and that’s it. Prices are cheap. Breakfast isn’t available anymore.

The service was good, and you’re only a few blocks from the city center. The rooms are sparse but clean, with a private bathroom. The shower is small, and it’s a walk-up with no elevator. For a hostel, it’s great, and the price is good.
