Gecko Hotel & Beach Club, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World

My friends and I booked a beautiful Bali Bed with champagne and fruit and spent a very peaceful day there. There was relaxing music, great service for food and drinks, and the staff were welcoming throughout. We happened to visit on a quiet Friday, May 23rd. Most of the time, we were the only ones on the Bali beds and loungers, apart from the cute geckos.

The food was lovely, but then we found a very long hair in our meal and couldn't eat it. The waitress said she'd seen it too, and later told us they were “inviting us for that meal.” We weren't looking for a replacement since we were near the end of dinner, and they did let us sit by the pool afterwards. Still, only taking the coffees off the bill, with little apology or other gesture, wasn't what I'd expect from a five-star place. I work with hotels around the world through my agency, and I expected better. It's a shame, because the food was great, but they handled the problem poorly.

The staff were very professional, the location was amazing, and we enjoyed the food, especially the excellent alioli sauce. We don't regret going, though it was very expensive. We've had food of similar quality elsewhere for half the price, and it felt like the prices reflected the luxurious setting more than the food itself.

We went for a wedding, and the location was perfect. The food and staff were great too. We didn't stay overnight.
