Location is a real plus, just two minutes from the beach, with scooters and bikes available to rent at the hotel. The staff were very friendly, especially Lina at reception. We could borrow a parasol there, though they didn't have beach towels. Breakfast was good, and I'd recommend having it since there aren't many options unless you go into town. We didn't try dinner, but the menu looked good and fairly priced for the island. Book ahead if you can, hopefully you'll get a better price. We had a standard room on the first floor. It was very clean, but basic for more than two nights, with little storage and a really tiny shower. My partner is tall and has a big build, so it was uncomfortable for them. The bed and pillows weren't very comfortable either, and the room felt too expensive. It could also get noisy at night when guests arrived late, and early in the morning from the kitchen. Still, we would come back.

We had a wonderful stay at Rosamar hotel and were given a very warm welcome. The girls serving dinner were especially sweet and friendly. It's definitely better than a two-star hotel, close to a lovely beach, and we got all the information we needed.

The public areas are nicely done and up to a good standard, and the hotel is near Sa Roqueta, a rocky stretch of coast outside Es Pujols. Our room, though, was outdated and had a strange musty smell. It was spotlessly clean, but the decor was so poor I don't think it deserves two stars. The walls were paper thin, with no soundproofing at all, so we heard everything in the corridor and neighboring rooms. Some reception and bar staff were unfriendly and aggressive toward us, which spoiled our time here. We'd stayed at two hotels on our holiday and had a wonderful time at Hostal Mayans. Formentera has felt like such a friendly island that this behavior was unusual in our experience. This place has real potential, but it's a shame it doesn't live up to it.
