Complejo Rural la Brujita

The view is magnificent, and the accommodation is in a very quiet spot. We stayed in Apartment 7 in February and found it clean, with everything provided. The building was renovated in 2002, as careful readers will know, and we thought its now-retro style suited the region. We arrived late to an unmanned reception, but an information sheet had been left for us. Joanna also checked whether we needed anything.

The views were stunning, and the woman who helped us was so friendly. This beautiful, welcoming country house has fully equipped apartments, plus a pool, tennis court, barbecue area and parking. I’ll definitely come back when I return to El Hierro.

The view is fantastic and the complex looks well maintained, but Apartment 5 felt damp, cold and musty in early February 2026. There was a fan heater. It was clean, though quite worn and shabby, and the door only opened after I turned the key and pressed the handle; there’s a video explaining it. We found a note at the unmanned reception that afternoon. Maybe we have high standards, but things need to work properly for us to feel comfortable. We didn’t book through the travel agency ourselves, and I suspect they may not know what they’re offering. We told the hotel manager on the first day. On the third day the handle was repaired, and the day before departure someone asked if we needed fresh towels.

It was incredibly peaceful, with unbeatable views across the valley. We stayed this past weekend in one of the little cottages, which had its own parking and a terrace, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, plus everything needed for a few comfortable days. The place is well kept and has a pool, gardens, a picnic area, and a barbecue setup with firewood and utensils. The cottages are close to all the bars, restaurants and supermarkets in Tigaday. The owners are wonderful and happy to help however they can. It was a great choice, and we’d stay here again if we return to El Hierro.
