Aparthotel Jabega

We were in fuengirola with friends in November 25 and ended up visiting this bar every night for two weeks. The food and entertainment were excellent, and so was the staff. We chatted with some guests and were impressed by what they said about their stay, so we've booked nine nights from 20th April as a birthday treat. Really looking forward to it, and hope we get a high floor 😀

The staff were fantastic and helpful, and the restaurant food wasn't too bad. We had an amazing beach-front view, and the location suited us, right across from the beach and close to the train station and other things we wanted. This was where my wife and I stayed on our first holiday abroad together, over 30 years ago, when it was part of a package booked by our travel agent. It wasn't the best place even then, but we were just starting out and saw it as an adventure. Since then, it's had a facelift, though mostly the lobby, and a restaurant has been added. The room still felt tired and could use more updating.

We stayed for two weeks in a first-floor side sea-view room above the bar, and the noisy singers kept us awake until midnight, with their set ending after 11.30pm. The reception staff were the most miserable I've encountered in 45 years of holidays in Spain. Cleaning amounted to emptying the bins and changing towels. We had to ask for toilet rolls, and in two weeks our sheets were never changed, so we had to strip the spare sofa bed ourselves to get clean ones. The mattresses are a joke, only two inches thick, and my wife needed to use two to get any sleep. The hotel dates back to 1975 and looks like it hasn't been updated since. The rooms are extremely dated, and the whole place needs a refurbishment. The bathroom and kitchen were well past their best, probably 20 years ago. We'll never return.

The entertainment is brilliant, and Mario Ross is our favourite. It's a great night out. We haven't stayed here, but we've eaten and had drinks many times. The food is good and reasonably priced, and the drinks are too. Service is great, and in my opinion they make the best aperol spritz!
