Hotel Avenida de España

We asked for a refund at check-in, but were refused because of the cancellation policy. If you don't like a meal at a restaurant, you don't have to pay for it. I can't honestly recommend this place to friends or family. This stay has put me off three-star hotels altogether. The only reason for my one star is the lovely receptionist who checked us in and tried to help with the room. The hotel's problems weren't her fault. The third floor smelled of cigarettes, the reception floor was sticky, and room 317 smelled so strongly of Camel cigarettes that sleeping there felt uncomfortable. We worried our clothes would smell afterward. Our second room was a little better but extremely stuffy, with no proper bathroom or solid ventilation. A shower would have made it even stuffier. The third room was more spacious but very cold, and the heating didn't work after several attempts. The decor was mismatched. When we left in the morning, I said good morning to the receptionist and she ignored me. There were drink cans outside by the entrance. This was a really disappointing stay, and it didn't feel like a three-star hotel at all. I've stayed in other three-star places with basic amenities, but this was more like a hostel.
