The setting in a quiet village is lovely, but the welcome was missing. A couple who had booked online said they'd already waited an hour at reception, and it seemed the receptionist, chambermaid, barmaid, waitress, cook and gardener were all somewhere in a bedroom.

The scenery is breathtaking, and the place is beautiful and peaceful. It’s lovely inside too.

They’ve done an impressive job reconditioning the building.

The palace is beautifully kept and very clean, with comfortable, well-equipped rooms. The downside is the lack of service or staff, and how far it is from everything. Estella is the nearest town for shops and restaurants, 7 km away on a winding road, though you know that before you go.
