Casas Cueva El Mirador de Galera

We spent a week there with our two little kids, who loved the relaxed feel, the local pool, and the place itself. The cave stays comfortably cool in summer without air conditioning, and warm when the weather turns colder. It’s a really unusual place to sleep, though the decor and facilities make it feel much more like a cosy modern cottage in the countryside than a Stone Age cave :) We’d definitely come back.

Lovely little cave homes.

The photos make it look better than it is. For what you get, it feels very expensive, with a 4m x 3m kitchen-dining room and a bedroom in the “cave.” The fireplace was the best part, but firewood costs €10 per wheelbarrow. I was glad I’d brought some from home, since otherwise it wouldn’t have lasted 5 hours. There’s no remote control, some kitchen utensils are missing, and the hob didn’t work.

The village itself is lovely, and the food was excellent. We also found the woman at reception very welcoming, and she explained everything clearly. Our cave house was peaceful, nice and cool, and had lovely views. We were surprised by how well equipped it was, with everything we needed, and the price was very reasonable. We had a great stay and are already looking forward to coming back.
