The food and wine are reason enough to leave the car parked and settle in. We came in May for a birthday treat, and the rooms were fantastic, better than some four-star hotels nearby. Don’t let the “hostel” label put you off. We’ll be back!

Not one complaint from us. The service was fantastic, the beds and amenities were superb, and the internet connection was great for this part of Spain. The place was as clean as a four- or even five-star hotel, and it made a lovely weekend escape.

The staff were super friendly and the room was clean, which makes me sorry to leave such a low rating. But for the price, it was extremely basic: our double room had just one bedside table and not even a bedside lamp. Also, if you’re thinking of staying here in 2016, bear in mind that a block was being built next door. We were woken at 8 am on Saturday by the deafening sound of pneumatic drills.

We slept well because it was quiet during our stay, and the renovated rooms are really nice. The hotel is right in the city centre, with the shore a short walk away and bars and cafes next door. It isn’t cheap, though.

A lovely fishing village, and this was the nicest room I’d found after walking miles looking for a hostal. It’s the best one I’ve stayed in so far.
