Micampus Getafe Flats

The deposit is my main warning to anyone thinking of staying here, especially exchange students. The contract says it should be returned within 90 days. I asked for the money back by email a couple of times, and after 90 days had nearly passed, I wrote again. I finally got it 18 days after the deadline. The company then claimed it was still within 90 days, which wasn't true. I think they take advantage of exchange students who don't have legal contacts in Spain, and wait to return the money until someone chases them. That seems legally very wrong. Once I pointed out that they were breaking the contract, they returned my money, after 17 days of asking normally. Maybe avoid the place if you want your deposit back on time, or at all. The room and shared areas are modern, new, and spacious, with plenty of room to study and spend time with people. Reception staff are nice, or at least trying to be, but only a few speak English. Communication was difficult, and you'd expect better English when so many American exchange students live there. My room also wasn't cleaned well. At nearly 850 euros a month for a small apartment, I expected better.

I spent six months there and had a good experience overall. Evenings were really noisy, though. You get what you pay for, and the deposit refund took three weeks, but that seems pretty good compared with what others have said here.

The atmosphere is great, particularly for students. Staff are professional and always attentive. I had a very good experience and recommend it 100%.

While I lived there for a little over a year, things seemed to get worse every month. The managers and staff were mean and angry all the time, and communicating with them could turn very uncomfortable. They act as if nothing is wrong, when there are a hundred things wrong. If you rent a shared room or apartment, it doesn't seem to matter whose mess it is, yours or your roommate's. You'll be blamed even when it isn't your fault. I remember one time they added chemicals to the water, and the desk employee only advised Spanish speakers because he didn't speak any English. I left a while ago for another residence nearby, and life blossomed away from that good-looking building. If you're considering Micampus because it looks nice, I'd think twice. One of the worst residences, and one of the worst experiences I've had.
