Abba Playa Gijon Hotel

We hadn't booked a room here, just dropped in for a drink and to check out the much-publicized rooftop bar. It was closed for winter, so we tried the 37th gastropub on the first floor instead. The decor was a bizarre mix, it didn't feel cozy, and the service was quite unfriendly. We'd planned to eat, but felt unwelcome and changed our minds. Wouldn't recommend it.

Paloma and her team made the arrangements feel easy from the start. We hosted a welcome party for our guests ahead of our destination wedding in Asturias, with a lot to coordinate and half the guests speaking English. The turnkey event service took a weight off our minds. Our two-hour cocktail-style dinner with bodega had excellent food, fantastic service, and beautiful spaces. On the day, the staff were incredibly courteous and flexible, and handled the bilingual group with ease. When rain came, they quickly moved us from the jaw-dropping terrace to the lovely downstairs bar without a hitch. Thank you to Paloma and the whole team for being part of such a special moment in our story.

Really good for a longer stay, with excellent rooms, food, and service. One of the best hotels in Gijon. Much appreciation to the reception team at Abba hotel and everyone else. Keep it up.

We especially appreciated the customer service during our Spain trip. We had an early flight, so I asked Mr.Miguel at the front desk for some coffee creamer. He went out of his way to offer us a packed picnic since we'd miss breakfast, and arranged to have hot milk ready early for our coffee. His front desk partner was also very kind, though I'm sorry I didn't catch his name. The rooms were spacious, clean, and nice, though the beds could have been a little more comfortable. We also enjoyed dinner at their restaurant, Abba Mia. The hotel is centrally located, just a two-minute walk from the famous San Lorenzo beach. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Gijon.
