Gijon Surf Hostel

Back from a week here and had a great time with everyone. I surfed three times and took lessons. The instructors were always really helpful, and a special thanks to GioGio for helping me with surfing. I'd recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Gijón! Gracias

I came here hoping for a place to rest and get proper surf lessons, but the stay was uncomfortable and unprofessional. The staff partied loudly every night, and outdoor speakers kept playing past 1 am even when nobody was outside. I asked to move and still couldn't sleep. If it's a party hostel, guests should be told so they can decide whether that suits a surf trip. The manager didn't even apologize. Someone also came into my room twice at night while I was sleeping alone, which was frightening. The lessons had little real teaching or safety guidance, and I doubt the instructors were certified. The wetsuits were old, thin and lacked small sizes; the cheap boards left us freezing and barely able to surf. Afterward, we had to walk 20 minutes from the beach while cold before we could shower.

Went with friends and had a great time, so I'll definitely be back. The beach is very close and great for swimming or surfing. There's a parking lot nearby, along with a supermarket, McDonald's and Burger King. The staff and facilities were top-notch.

Dust under the bed set off my allergy, and the kitchen and toilets were filthy. The staff were rude, especially a tall blonde woman with glasses who whistled at me at checkout. Never coming back.
