The location seems alright, and finding a room in Gijón can be hard. Still, be careful when booking. We chose the wrong date and called immediately, within a minute of making the reservation, but the owner refused any refund. The payment was non-refundable, but it seems unlikely he could have lost business in that one minute. I don't know why he'd handle it that way. Maybe he really needs the money, or maybe he has authoritarian tendencies or believes rules matter above everything else. On the phone he said, “There are rules, and I will not make a refund.” That kind of world makes me sad, even if it may be the one we live in. I'd like to think that as a hotel owner I'd want to help people and take pride in respecting them. But I'm not one, so perhaps I can't judge his experiences or what made him behave this way. If you make a booking mistake and can't get a refund, be kind to yourself. And if you're a hotel owner, perhaps be kind too.
