Hotel Camagüey

I stayed three nights, and the room had a terrible smell, like feet or feces. It hung around the whole time, even after cologne, air freshener, and daily room “cleaning.” If cheap and shabby is what you’re after, this is the place.

The price is okay, and the location is convenient, about 10 minutes from Poniente Beach with a bus stop nearby. The views aren’t much, as it’s in an old area. We had trouble finding the room keys: we checked reception, then found out they were outside the hotel. During our three-day stay, we didn’t see anyone working there, even though the dining room was open and empty.

It’s excellent value for money. The rooms and common areas were very clean, though the laundry was left in the middle of a first-floor room with the iron on. The hotel itself was clean, adequate, and comfortable, but the area beside the port felt a little neglected or run-down. There was no one at reception, and we didn’t see any staff.

The location was good, and the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a lot of street noise, though, and the room wasn’t soundproofed. A few little things could be fixed too: not many electrical outlets, poor quality toilet paper, and a bathroom door that drags. Otherwise, it was good.
