Hotel Paris

Room 1 was much better than we expected after reading the reviews. It felt modern and well done for the price and the hotel's star rating, and we slept without any trouble. It's right behind reception, but there was hardly anyone there, so noise wasn't an issue. We stayed one night, and I'm sharing our experience because the place wasn't as bad as some reviews suggest.

We'd booked two rooms a month ahead for three adults, one with a single bed and one with two beds, but on arrival they said no twin room was available. The receptionist kindly called the owner to try to sort it out. At first the owner wouldn't speak to us; when she eventually did, she was rude and made it sound like the mix-up was our fault. There were no apologies or solutions. That customer service was appalling and arrogant. I can't recommend this place.

The bar downstairs stayed noisy until 3:50 AM, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear conversations. Room 6 was tiny, with barely enough room to move around the bed. The hotel is on the first floor of an apartment building, and reception is only open limited hours. I asked for a noon check-in and they accepted 2 PM. Checkout is at 12 PM, but the receptionist rudely insisted I return the key at 11. I had to work hard to prove the checkout time. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

We were there June 27th to July 1st, and the staff made us feel very welcome. The receptionist was friendly even though we arrived around 11 pm, and both the man and woman who looked after us were attentive and kind. They were especially lovely with our dog, giving it lots of affection. The location is perfect, close to the beach and with all the amenities we needed nearby. You can hear noise from adjoining rooms, though with "normal" people it isn't a problem. Great value for money. We felt comfortable and would definitely stay again when we return to Gijón. Thanks for such a pleasant stay.
