Hotel Silken Ciudad Gijon

We stayed two nights, and by the second one we had to ask reception for clean mugs to make tea. The used cups hadn't been replaced, and the minibar hadn't been restocked. Hard to believe this is supposed to be a four-star hotel.

The train station is conveniently close, about a five-minute walk. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel is modern, with a spacious room and a nice bathroom and shower.

What stood out most was the food. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent, and breakfast was incredible, with lots of choice, fresh ingredients and something for every taste. The staff were friendly and helpful too. I spent two days in Gijón at Hotel Silken Ciudad Gijón. It's very close to the railway station, which made getting around and exploring the city easy. My room was clean, comfortable and well maintained, a relaxing place to come back to after sightseeing. I loved my stay and would definitely recommend the hotel for its comfort, location, food and service.

The service was good, the rooms were nice, and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was delicious and varied, and when we had early starts the staff kindly packed breakfast for us. We also enjoyed the bar, restaurant and pools, and you can watch YouTube on the TVs. My one complaint was the air conditioning. It's centrally controlled, and although staff can switch it on, it didn't work. I stayed with colleagues and we all had the same problem. Staff said they'd brought in a repair person, but I had no AC at night and was very hot. I slept badly and wasn't given a fan when I asked. If you're paying hundreds of pounds a night, the AC should work.
