Girorooms

The check-in staff were polite, and the location was great. Those are the two stars. The apartment didn’t live up to the cleanliness or quality shown in the photos. It needs a proper scrub, or at least a swept floor and a clean bathroom. The shower flooded every time, and the water could get dangerously hot. Don’t touch the left side of the faucet, it will seriously burn you. The mattress felt like cardboard, with a paper-thin pillow and cheap, scratchy towels and sheets. The walls barely block sound. At night and early morning, we heard everything the neighbors did: using and flushing the toilet, coughing, singing, repeated sex with shrieking, crying babies, arguments with more shrieking, apartment and front doors slamming, and some huge industrial door that shook the whole building. There was also constant high-pitched electrical beeping from somewhere unknown. Some of the other English-speaking guests seemed unaware that doors can be closed gently, or that everyone in the hall can hear their phone calls on the way back from the bar. My two roommates and I would have slept better in our car. Four days of no sleep and constant irritation cost too much. The neighborhood seems to hate tourists, and honestly, I can’t blame them. Next time, the Ibis.

It’s easy to explore Girona on foot from here, and the price is great. Cleanliness was another matter: we spent an hour killing flies, and there was moldy water across the bathroom floor.

Really good flats for the price, and the staff are so helpful.
