ibis Girona Costa Brava

I called about a simple mistake in my booking dates and got a rude, dismissive response instead of help. The staff member made no effort to understand what had happened or offer a solution, and the cold tone only made it more frustrating. I know hotels have policies, but basic politeness and willingness to help should be standard in hospitality. That was completely missing in my experience. Very disappointing service.

I booked Ibis Girona on 6th September while traveling with my dog, since the hotel says it accepts pets. Before arriving, I asked whether I could check in after midnight and bring my dog, but never got a reply. The phone number listed was invalid when I tried calling. I later found out they disable the phone at night, so you can’t reach the hotel if a problem comes up. That’s unacceptable for anyone arriving late. Since I couldn’t confirm I’d be able to check in, I asked to cancel. They refused twice and only partly answered one of my questions. I ended up booking another hotel in France so I’d have somewhere to stay. I never used my Girona booking, but they still charged me. No reliable way to get in touch, poor customer service, and no flexibility. Very disappointing, and I can’t recommend this hotel.

A good value stay that met my expectations. The hotel is a bit out of town, around 25 mins on foot to the main centre, but the price, convenience, and quiet location made that a fair trade-off. I’d recommend it to budget-conscious travellers.

Sofian at reception deserves a special thank you. He gave us such a warm welcome that we already feel at home here. Lovely clean room, and an excellent restaurant in the evening. 5 stars.
