Masia Can Pou

A few practical notes first: the road up is unpaved, and rain can leave potholes, so take it slowly. The last mile may take 5-10 min. The place is close to Girona and a famous restaurant, and runners can do a relaxed 10 kms loop around the “small volcano.” It’s also very reasonably priced. Masia Can Pou sits on a hill and has real history and character. It’s a special spot to get away from the world’s noise, relax in nature and eat well. Nothing feels rushed, just human. The hostess speaks perfect Castellano, Catalan, English and French, and seems to understand what you need before you do. She even picks the breakfast and dinner music on real LPs. Her husband cooks with local produce, including vegetables from their own garden, and bakes his own bread. The menu changes every day. The rooms are charming and have aged gracefully. The view is beautiful, and the whole place feels blissful.

We loved the seasonal tapas-style dinner, with all its different flavors. At €30 per person, it was exceptional. The traditional Catalan breakfast was delicious too, and the natural spring water served at the hotel tasted so pure and refreshing. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hospitality was thoughtful and warm. It’s a unique, peaceful place to get away from the city rush. Thank you for having us. We’ll definitely return.

One word: book it. We had an unforgettable stay as a couple, thanks to Irene and Donatello, who were so attentive to guests’ needs. This family business puts local products first. Picture a beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated traditional Catalan masia, surrounded by hills with breathtaking views, yet only 15 min from Girona. Dinner felt like an experience between art and cuisine, with a gastronomic tasting menu. After that, we could relax in the bath and sleep in a real watchtower, then wake to a beautiful sunrise and a generous breakfast. You can have all that at Masia Can Pou.

Dinner was a real highlight for us: the local ingredients and home-cooked flavors made it a meal we’ll remember. Breakfast was lovely too, and the big pool was clean and refreshing, especially on a quiet morning looking out over the countryside. The calm started as soon as we arrived at Masia Can Pou. With hills and open sky all around, the sunsets felt like a show of their own, and it was easy to forget daily stress. Our room was spotless and well cared for, and the bed was so comfortable that we slept better than we had in months. Everything felt considered and restful, with a lot of warmth and respect for the region. We left wishing we could stay longer. Masia Can Pou was a beautiful place to slow down, and we’re already thinking about coming back.
