Pensión Borrás

I never ended up staying here, and the way the receptionist handled things was deeply unhelpful. There was no flexibility around the 21:30 check-in cutoff, and the receptionist on duty didn’t speak English, only Spanish. My flight was delayed by about an hour and a half. I called the property several times to explain and ask if I could check in late or cancel at the last minute because the delay was out of my control. I tried to make myself understood in a language that isn’t mine, and even got help from staff at the restaurant about 60 meters away. They were willing to receive the keys and hand them over when I arrived, but the receptionist wouldn’t walk that short distance to give them the keys. The restaurant staff were busy serving customers, and the receptionist seemed interested only in collecting the accommodation fee, with no empathy or willingness to help. I also contacted Booking customer service, but the language barrier and lack of understanding meant I couldn’t get my payment back. I didn’t use the accommodation, and I hope this helps others decide whether to book it for a holiday.

The room and bathroom were clean, the price was very reasonable, and the location was brilliant. The staff were friendly and helpful too. My single room, though, was noisy and had no window. I’d recommend the place, but ask to avoid the single room by reception.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The location was good, but the tiny single room had a shared bathroom at the end of a corridor and around two corners, which wasn’t ideal. Noise was the real problem. Around five in the morning, a whirring electrical sound started in the room next door and woke me. Then came some pretty awful snoring from the same room, and I didn’t get back to sleep. I’d avoid the room I had, or look for somewhere with better soundproofing.

It’s very clean and right in the center, but we had a leak around the room sink. Then at 1 a.m. the TV switched itself on. It was really scary, and we still have no idea how or why it happened.
