Aljibe del Albayzin

Albayzin is amazing, and I'd definitely come back to stay here. It was clean and pretty, the hosts were kind and accommodating, and communication was easy. Everything went smoothly.

Getting there by car took some thought: we left it at St Cristobal public parking and walked, since parking and driving on the tiny roads is challenging. The apartments are still close to restaurants, a supermarket and sites, and the terrace and courtyard were nice. It was fairly quiet too. Our unit had its own bedroom, small bathroom, lounge-diner and kitchenette, with a kettle, toaster, hob, pans, microwave and even a washing machine. The manager was helpful before we arrived and quick to answer questions. I'd stay here again.

The owner's behavior made this the most disgusting rental experience I've ever had. I've since seen another guest describe the exact same behavior by Teresa, which made me feel vindicated. The bedding wasn't clean enough: when I asked for sheets without hair, Teresa's rude assistant said that's how the cleaners delivered them. That's no excuse, and the hairs should have been removed. I also found a bloody tissue in my bed with pus or some kind of yellow substance on it. I can't believe that was an accident. After I complained about the hairs, I came to believe Teresa or her assistant had put it there. I was staying in one apartment and wanted to extend, but had to move because other guests were arriving. The assistant gave me the keys to the next apartment a day early so I could move easily. Then, close to midnight, Teresa came banging on my door angrily and loudly, demanding those keys. I was already asleep and terrified, thinking something awful had happened. I was going to use them in a few hours anyway. It was completely inexcusable. After I moved, Teresa came into the apartment one morning while I was still inside. She noticed me and went back out. I felt unsafe staying there. The owner seemed gross, volatile and honestly dangerous, and the assistant was rude and disturbing too. I don't recommend this place. There are plenty of beautiful rentals in the Albaicin, and you'd be better off choosing one of those.

Teresa, the owner, came into my room three times to check whether the light or air conditioning was on. If the electricity was on while I was out, she would disconnect it, which makes me wonder how she knew without sneaking in. At check-in she gave me a sheet of ten rules that seemed to be just for me, including one saying I wasn't allowed to talk to other guests. The rules felt discriminatory, and her conduct was disrespectful and ridiculous. There were plenty of other bad things about my stay. This was the worst place I've stayed in Spain, with the worst management and owner. I don't recommend it to anyone.
