Ashavana Nest Hostel

It's a bit cramped, and the beds creak, so it may not suit you if you want room to spread out, especially when it's windy. But being so close together makes it feel like one big family. I understand why so many guests have come back, and I'll return too. A great hostel in Medano.

I stayed one night and it was a complete mess, really uncomfortable, and a ripoff for the price. There was loud music all day, noisy drunk people, and people using drugs on the terrace. I also found bed bugs and cockroaches in my bed. What a joke. When I went to check out, nobody was at the desk and people were waiting for someone to come help them. That's completely irresponsible. Please read the other reviews carefully. People have been reporting this for years, but the owner and management seem to prefer music and parties to their customers. They don't live in the hostel, of course, which is clever of them.

For 30 euro a night, you deserve better. I've stayed in lots of hostels around Europe, and this was a low point. The mattress had no support at all, even though I'm relatively light, and there are very few toilet facilities. The room was stuffy and unclean, with drunk, noisy, smelly guests. Dorm doors are left open, and the window opens straight onto the street where people often pass by, so it felt very unsafe. It felt like being in a developing country.

The woman who welcomed me was very nice, and the hostel was clean, so credit to housekeeping. I liked the location, though the place itself is very small and feels overcrowded. The kitchen especially seemed to have been taken over by a few specific people. I only stayed briefly.
