The Tree House Hostel

The people are what I'll remember most. Rebeca the manager and all the volunteers made me feel welcome, and their activities gave the place a great vibe. There were beach trips, concerts, yoga, and more, unlike what I read in the earlier review. The pool area was great for sunning, and though I didn't use much of it, there was lots of coworking space. The kitchen is large and well stocked, though the pans could use an update. It's a special hostel run by wonderful people, and thanks to everyone for that. A few changes would help. The kitchen lighting feels too clinical, and the reading lights are like spotlights that light up the whole room. Some simple DIY could fix that cheaply, and Rebeca, I'd happily volunteer to help. I like a party, but maybe the very late party guests could be persuaded to move into the kitchen so people who are sleepy can rest. Please give the cats fresh water so they don't have to drink from the pool. They add a lot to the hostel, and fresh water costs nothing. A litter box might help with the flies and smells too. 🐱

The location is nice if you're looking for somewhere remote and quiet, but there was nowhere covered to spend time together during several days of heavy rain except the kitchen, so guests were mostly stuck in their tiny dorms. Quiet time is officially 11pm, yet volunteers hosted a concert on Friday that went on until 1am, when a guest complained. They clearly put effort into arranging events, though most were cancelled because guests weren't interested. The stay didn't live up to the online presentation in accommodation quality, cleanliness, or atmosphere. The Instagram account suggests a cool, social place, but it seemed to be the volunteers socialising with each other rather than creating an inclusive guest experience. The reliance on volunteers affected the atmosphere, which felt more like student accommodation than a professionally run hostel. Cleanliness felt superficial, and messages in the WhatsApp group about leftover food, kitchen cleanliness, and hair dryers came across as passive-aggressive. Cleanliness was a major problem throughout. The kitchen was extremely dirty, with flies everywhere, cats on the counters, and cats going through the trash. The hostel often replies to reviews by emphasising cleanliness, but it didn't seem to have been properly addressed. Guests shouldn't be solely responsible for hygiene. Staff should make sure shared areas are properly cleaned for the next paying guest.

Rebeca, the manager, made me feel at home right away, and the employees were super nice. There were lots of activities happening too. The terrace has a beautiful sea view and a pool, and the location is unique. It's easy to reach nearby beaches and explore the area, either with the free shuttle or on a nice walk. Definitely worth it!

This is my second stay, and TreeHouse Hostel is still one of my top three favourite places in the world. Sun, a delicious swimming pool, stunning views over the sea, and coworking space make it a great place to break out of your routine and recharge. The people and volunteers are amazing, and so is Rebeca, the soul of ThreeHouse and its manager. She's empathetic, full of enthusiasm, and makes sure every guest has a wonderful stay. The place has great vibes and feels magical. Once people come to TreeHouse, they never want to leave!
